That night I started getting sick we were still out in the front yard mowing the grass for Mom and Dad. Mom kept coming out to check on me, after a few times of checking on me Dr. Joe came down the drive way to check on my still numb face and gave me another shot to make me feel better. After I got my stitches out ( Dr. Joe fixed my hernia and gelded me) the days molded into each other it was so pleasant here, we always had hay and grain for dinner and tall grass to munch on all day . But as always my peaceful life was once again ripped apart at the seams, I awoke with such a horrid tummy ache, when Mommy came out to give us breakfast I could not get up to greet her like I always did, instantly Mom knew something was not right.
CC never did leave my side she is such a good friend, here her leg was
hurting her real bad but she never complained she kept talking softly to me
giving me words of encouragement.
Mom and CC helped me to my feet and led me to the barn where she left me
under CCs watchful eye.
She sat with us until the vet came out this time it was not Dr. Joe it
was another vet, we were led out to the front yard where, he then stuck a needle
in my neck and a tube up my nose, let me tell ya how uncomfortable that was WOW!
I was bleeding like a stuck pig.
Hours later, after I forgot how many laps around the front yard.
I was feeling better, CC tried to follow us but her leg was really
starting to bother her so we decided we had better stop so CC could rest, why
she did not just stand in one place is beyond me!
During our break I thought that I would lay down for a few minutes that
was when the pain came back only much worse.
I was rolling on the ground hoping it would go away but it made it worse,
CC tried to help me up by grabbing my halter in her mouth and pulling but I
weighed to much with her hurting leg so she could not do it.
Mom came back outside to try to help CC get me up before the vet came
back out, she was crying and begging me, so I put everything I had left in me
into getting up and it WORKED!!! I
was up and right before the vet showed up.
He stuck me again with a bunch of needles the biggest one I have ever saw
went right into my tummy, when he pulled it out he was smiling at Mom and said I
was a very lucky colt to pull threw a nasty bout of Colic with out surgery. Page 9 |
