As the dawn of a new day shined it's loving warmth down on us I found I was unable to move, my whole body hurt. I was covered in this sticky red goo, when my Mom woke up and saw my condition, you should have seen the look in her eyes, sheer terror, she jumped up and ran off towards the barn, leaving me alone, close to the fence line near that mean, old Gray. I could not pick up my head to see where he was, but I could hear him, I was unable to cry out for Mom so I laid there softly crying, wondering if that old gray would hear me and come hurt me again. I was so scared it felt like hours before I heard the distant rumble of a truck as it got closer I also heard a horse running, " Mommy " I moaned " is that you?" I felt her nuzzling me as the truck came to a sliding stop near us, people running and yelling, as I drifted off to sleep again. When I awoke it was dark, I was in my barn warm and safe, my extended family was all around me along with a few that I did not know. I felt a lot better, I was clean and had my blankey on, my mouth and body still hurt but I felt stronger. One of the people that I did not know came up to me and started to stroke me neck lovingly then I felt a sharp sting, it only lasted a moment, so I was happy about that, the man said I was a very lucky colt to have been threw this and live to tell about it. Next thing I knew everybody was trying to help me to my feet, I was wobbly at first, the pain was unreal but I was up and on my own feet, I slowly made my way over to my the feeder I was so hungry but as soon as I got food in my mouth I noticed I was missing a front tooth it hurt to eat but I was starving, it had been over 24 hours since I last had something to eat.
