The summer
flew by our days were full of grazing on tall grass and playing in the front
yard.
As the weather turned to cold, the storms came back, it was not that they
were bad they were just scary, we had a warm dry barn to sleep in and plenty of
food to last us threw the night.
One night, there was a bad windstorm.
This one was very scary.
A huge tree branch came down and hit the barn!
We ran out, crashing threw the barn doors, the lightning in the sky
giving us light to run by we ran and ran, we headed for the front yard as it was
always a place of comfort for us but on this night there was no comfort, so we
ran some more we found the driveway thinking that up there we could find shelter
that was safe, all of the sudden there were lights rushing past us, horns
honking, we ran some more in terror what was going on! All of the sudden I was
hit, I was hit hard.
My face went threw this hard wall I felt a bunch of stuff cutting my face
and head, my shoulder was struck by the same wall, I found myself flying threw
the air, then skidding on the hard asphalt, my skin was being ripped from my
body. When
I awoke I was lying on the highway; CC was standing over me Urging me to get up, oh how it hurt to move, CC was in such a panic, over what had happened. I had to do as she said. She was older and knew more about things than me, some how we made it down the road and into the front yard, I was leaning onto CC for support there was this sharp pain in my leg I could not put it on the ground. After what seemed like hours, Mom came running out of the house with a flashlight she took a quick look at me and ran into the house screaming to call the vet! Was I hurt that bad? I knew I was not in real good shape but the vet? Well she knew best so I trusted her judgment. When Mom came back out to get a better look she started to cry while going over me. Dad, Mom and CC all tried to get me back to the barn. Oh how it hurt to walk, I had to hop, I could not put my leg down the pain was unreal, we were half way there when the vet showed up it was Dr. Lisa she was so nice, she helped get me into my stall and started to work on me while mom went to get my blankey, I was so cold I could not stop shaking, Dr. Lisa started giving me shots they made me sleepy, I was having a hard time standing up so I leaned on the barn wall, CC was right next to us in her stall never taking her eyes off of me I was so grateful for a friend like her, she was the best. page 12 |
